Why your CDP investment isn't paying off yet…

Warehouse and activation are out of sync

Your CDP pulls from a stale CRM export, while clean, modeled data sits untouched in Snowflake. Every campaign runs on degraded data.

Identity resolution hasn't kept up with your business

Resolution logic set at go-live doesn't reflect new channels, product lines, or merged records. Your segments are built on an outdated customer model.

No validation between your data handoffs

Warehouse to CDP to ESP, nothing checks what arrives. Null fields, wrong audience filters, stale attributes. Failures only surface when campaigns underperform.

Your ESP is connected but data-starved

The API sync covers basic contact fields. Behavioral history and predictive outputs never make it through. Your ESP is working with a fraction of what it could.

Get the warehouse right. Everything else follows.

The activation platforms are only as good as the warehouse underneath. Our CDP consulting services configure the data foundation your CDP and your team can build on.

Snowflake

  • CDP schema design - customer profile, event, and audience tables
  • dbt model configuration for marketing activation
  • Hightouch and Segment connection setup and validation
  • Data quality monitoring, suppression, and consent architecture
Databricks

  • Unity Catalog and CDP schema configuration for marketing use cases
  • Hightouch connection and audience model design
  • ML model output pipelines into activation destinations
  • CustomerLake implementation strategy and activation architecture for Braze and SFMC

Three platforms. Our team knows all of them.

Hightouch, RudderStack, or Segment, we know the configuration, the edge cases, and the integration points that make each platform actually deliver for marketing.

Hightouch
  • Warehouse connection setup across Snowflake and Databricks
  • Audience model design aligned to existing dbt models
  • Identity resolution setup and maintenance
  • Segment and journey builds for marketing teams
  • Destination configuration - Braze, SFMC, ad platforms, CRM
  • Sync monitoring, validation, and optimization
  • AI Decisioning configuration for send-time and offer optimization

Best for: Mature warehouse teams who want SQL-first control and a no-code audience builder on top, without a separate data store.

RudderStack
  • SDK implementation across web, mobile, and server-side
  • Event taxonomy design and tracking plan development
  • Warehouse destination setup - Snowflake, Databricks
  • Cloud mode and device mode configuration per destination
  • Transformation logic for enrichment and routing
  • Migration from Segment or custom event pipelines
  • Pipeline monitoring and data quality validation

Best for: Engineering-led teams who want open-source infrastructure they control, especially those migrating from Segment at a lower cost.

Segment
  • Implementation and Tracking Plan design
  • Profiles setup and identity resolution configuration
  • Sources, Destinations, and Connections configuration
  • Audience builds and journey activation
  • Segment Engage implementation for marketing activation
  • Audit and optimization of existing Segment environments
  • Migration advisory, when Segment fits, and when it doesn't

Best for: Marketing-led teams who need speed to activation without warehouse dependency, including those already on Segment but underleveraging it.

Global retailer: Composable CDP migration from Segment

Industry

Global Retail · B2C · 8M+ customers · Multi-market

Challenge

High Segment costs ($220K/year), fragmented data across 14 sources, underused Twilio Engage, delayed paid suppression, and no revenue attribution.

Solution

After audit, Mavlers migrated to a composable CDP - Snowflake (identity), RudderStack (pipeline), Hightouch (activation). Built dbt models (RFM, LTV, churn, affinity), unified identity, and activated 14 traits across CRM and paid channels.

Outcome

  • 54% reduction in CDP costs ($220K → $102K)
  • 31% increase in unified customer profiles
  • Personalization depth: 2 → 14 attributes
  • Zero-downtime migration with board-ready attribution

B2B SaaS scale-up: CDP implementation and activation

Industry

B2B SaaS · Enterprise · 400K+ users · Product-led growth

Challenge

No CDP in place. Data disconnected from campaigns, heavy reliance on manual exports, last-click attribution, and 60% dependence on third-party data.

Solution

Mavlers implemented Segment with Protocols and identity resolution, configured Twilio Engage journeys (churn, upgrade, onboarding), and activated warehouse signals via Hightouch. Built first-party data capture strategy.

Outcome

  • From 60% third-party reliance to 94% first-party
  • 21% reduction in CAC
  • 11% churn recovery in 90 days
  • Lifecycle revenue attribution live in 4 months

The platform question comes second. The strategy question comes first.

The real problem is rarely the platform, it's the data model, identity resolution, and activation architecture beneath it. We map those decisions before any platform is selected.

Frequently asked questions

We already have Segment in place. Is there a reason to consider Hightouch?

It depends on what your warehouse looks like. If your data team maintains clean, well-modelled data in Snowflake or Databricks, Hightouch activates that data directly without a separate Segment schema to maintain. Segment has a stronger story for teams that do not have a mature warehouse and want a managed profile store. We run both. As part of our customer data platform consulting, the conversation always starts with your current infrastructure, not the tool.

What does a composable CDP engagement actually start with?

It starts with an audit. Our CDP consulting services begin by mapping what data exists in the warehouse, what the activation platform currently covers, and where the two diverge. That gap is where the work is. Most teams discover significant data that exists in the warehouse and has never reached their ESP or ad platforms.

Do we need Snowflake or Databricks to use Hightouch?

Hightouch connects to any cloud data warehouse including BigQuery and Redshift. Snowflake and Databricks are the most common in the composable CDP pattern and where we have deepest implementation experience, but the platform recommendation follows your existing infrastructure.

We have RudderStack but it is not feeding Marketing Cloud properly. What does that typically look like?

The most common issue is that the event stream is configured in cloud mode to SFMC, but the Data Extension schema on the SFMC side has not been updated to match the events being sent. Events arrive and fail silently. An audit of the SFMC Data Extension structure against the RudderStack tracking plan is usually the starting point.

How does Braze fit into a composable CDP build?

Braze is almost always the primary destination on composable CDP builds for lifecycle marketing teams. Hightouch or Segment sync audience segments and attributes from the warehouse into Braze. Mavlers manages both the activation platform configuration and the Braze data architecture that receives the data: attribute schema, event taxonomy, and the Braze Catalog or Connected Content setup that turns warehouse data into campaign personalisation.

What is Salesforce Data Cloud and when does it make sense?

Data Cloud is Salesforce's composable CDP layer. It connects to external data sources, builds unified customer profiles, and activates segments into Marketing Cloud and the broader Salesforce ecosystem. In our customer data platform consulting work, we recommend it for teams already heavily committed to SFMC who want warehouse-connected profiles without managing a separate activation platform. It is not the right choice for teams running Braze or a multi-ESP architecture.

Do you work with teams that have internal data engineering?

Consistently. Internal data engineers own warehouse modelling and pipeline infrastructure. Mavlers owns the CDP-specific configuration, including activation platform setup, destination connections, and the data architecture inside the ESP. Having one customer data platform consulting partner covering the CDP layer end to end reduces the handoff failures that produce data quality problems downstream.

How long does a composable CDP build take?

An MVP (warehouse connected to activation platform with the first set of destinations live and validated) typically runs eight to twelve weeks. That covers audit, schema work, activation configuration, destination setup, and testing. Teams with well-modelled existing warehouse data are closer to eight weeks. Teams that need significant data modelling work first run longer.
