Dreamforce 2025 unpacked: Unveiling the strategic shift from automation to agency

If you’ve ever been to San Francisco in September, you know there’s a certain electricity in the air when Dreamforce rolls into town. 

The city hums differently. Cafés overflow with people in Einstein hoodies, trails of glowing badges shimmer through SoMa’s streets, and the Moscone Center, bathed in Salesforce-blue light, feels less like a venue and more like a portal to the future of business.

Dreamforce 2025 was no exception. Except this time, it didn’t just celebrate innovation; it declared a revolution.

We at Mavlers were right there in the thick of it, soaking in the buzz, chatting with fellow CRM geeks, and feeling that unmistakable shift that happens when technology stops being about automation and starts being about agency.

This year, Salesforce wasn’t just talking about AI. 

They were discussing Agentic AI and how it’s quietly redefining the blueprint for how modern enterprises think, decide, and act.

From automation to agency, unveiling the big Dreamforce shift

Honestly, AI fatigue is real. 

By 2024, most of us had seen one too many “AI-powered” product demos that felt like fancy autocomplete. Dreamforce 2025 broke that mold.

The narrative shifted from “let AI help you work faster” to “let AI think and act with you.”

That’s what the Agentic Enterprise is all about: a business that doesn’t just react to data but intelligently acts on it, continuously, across every department. It’s like having a hundred miniature strategists who not only anticipate your customer’s next move but also execute on it, ethically, contextually, and in real-time.

As Nital Shah, Co-Founder & COO, at Mavlers, put it while sipping what was probably his fifth cold brew of the day:

This isn’t about AI replacing marketers, sales reps, or service pros; it’s about elevating them. Agentic AI is that smart teammate who not only runs the play but knows why it matters.

And to call a spade a spade, that’s the energy Dreamforce 2025 radiated.

Einstein 2.0 grows up and gets a mind of its own!

If Dreamforce 2023 was about introducing Einstein GPT, this year was about giving it agency.

The all-new Einstein Copilot Actions and Workflows weren’t just another upgrade; they felt like the missing link between strategy and execution. Businesses can now create “agentic workflows” in which Einstein doesn’t wait for human input; it proactively takes the next step when specific signals or outcomes are detected.

Suppose your CRM notices a drop in lead engagement for a specific campaign. Instead of alerting your marketing manager, Einstein identifies the root cause, drafts an alternate email sequence based on audience behavior, and schedules A/B tests, all autonomously, while looping your team in for approval.

That’s not automation. That’s agency.

Or as Mrugesh Dabhi, our resident automation architect, quipped between sessions,

Einstein’s finally graduated from assistant to operator. It’s not just about prompts anymore, it’s about partnership.”

Data Cloud becomes the nervous system

Another showstopper at Dreamforce 2025 was the evolution of Salesforce Data Cloud.

What used to be a robust customer data platform (CDP) is now the literal nervous system of the Agentic Enterprise. With unified metadata and real-time activation, Data Cloud ensures every AI decision has complete context, no more fragmented views or delayed insights.

Imagine marketing, sales, and service all running off the same continuously updating brain, where every click, call, or complaint feeds the intelligence loop instantly.

It’s what gives the Agentic Enterprise its heartbeat.

And yes, that means even third-party systems, from Slack to Shopify, can now plug into this ecosystem more seamlessly than ever. For us CRM folks, that’s a dream come true.

Slack turns into the command center

Slack’s transformation was another highlight that had attendees buzzing.

If the Agentic Enterprise is a spaceship, Slack is now the control deck. With Copilot deeply integrated, your channels can now act on triggers in real time. You don’t switch tabs anymore; your CRM, marketing cloud, and analytics tools come to you.

A sales manager can type, “Show me deals at risk this week,” and Slack Copilot instantly surfaces insights, nudges owners, or even triggers follow-up cadences directly in Salesforce. Its orchestration made it conversational.

At Mavlers, we’ve seen firsthand how communication silos slow down decision-making. Dreamforce 2025 made one thing clear: Slack is now less about messaging and more about momentum.

Highlighting the human side of the Agentic Enterprise

Between the keynote fireworks and Einstein demos, Dreamforce 2025 also struck an unexpectedly human chord.

Marc Benioff, ever the showman, reminded everyone that AI’s purpose isn’t to make us faster; it’s to make us freer. Free to think bigger, act creatively, and focus on impact instead of inboxes.

He called the Agentic Enterprise “a world where technology doesn’t just follow orders, it understands intention.”

That line stuck with us. 

Because beneath all the product rollouts and acronyms, that’s the crux of this transformation: AI as an ally, not an overlord.

Nital summed it up beautifully: “The best part about Agentic AI isn’t the tech, it’s the trust. You can finally delegate decisions without losing control.

Ethics, transparency, and the trust layer

Salesforce also doubled down on the Ethical AI conversation this year.

Every demo, every announcement, came with an undercurrent of accountability. The Einstein Trust Layer, which filters and secures every AI action, ensures data privacy and compliance remain uncompromised, even when your AI agents are making decisions autonomously.

It’s this invisible safety net that makes “agency” scalable.

Because let’s be real, no enterprise wants a rogue AI optimizing customer journeys at the expense of customer trust. Salesforce knows this, and they’re building guardrails before the gold rush.

Why this matters for businesses (and marketers like us)

So, what does the Agentic Enterprise mean if you’re a business owner, marketer, or CRM manager navigating Salesforce today?

Simply said, it means less firefighting, more foresight, campaigns that self-adjust, dashboards that narrate, and workflows that don’t just save time; instead, they create it.
